Perry-Lecompton Welcomes Brianna Kent as LES Title I Teacher

July 11, 2020

Briana Kent grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where she graduated from Desert Vista High School.  She attended KU and graduated this spring with a Bachelor of Education degree.

Some of you may recognize Ms. Kent as she student taught at Lecompton Elementary this past fall with Mrs. Day in third grade.  Ms. Kent’s other experience with student teaching and observing were in fifth grade at Scott Dual Language Magnet School in Topeka, and kindergarten at White Church Elementary School in Kansas City.  She has volunteered at Deerfield Elementary and Corpus Christi Catholic School in Lawrence to hone her skills as an educator and help students prepare for their futures.

Ms. Kent loves to go camping, being outside, and reading.  She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Kent has known she wanted to be a teacher for a long time.  She relishes in student laughter, creating meaningful relationships with her students, and watching the “aha!” moment of understanding when a student grasps that concept they have been working hard on.

When asked why she wanted to come to Perry-Lecompton she responded “The community environment, the staff, and the students! My student teaching experience at Lecompton was so fulfilling, and I cannot wait to experience that again!”

We welcome Ms. Brianna Kent to the Perry-Lecompton family!
