Perry-Lecompton Welcomes New District Nurse, Jill Blosser

August 21, 2020

It isn't uncommon to see former students employed by USD 343 and our new school nurse is no exception. Jill Blosser grew up in Perry, KS. Both Jill and her husband Ryan graduated from Perry Lecompton schools and have a daughter Charley attending PLMS. The family is currently building a house near Lake Perry, which could come in handy for a family like the Blosser's, which also includes 1 fish, 14 chickens and two dogs (Miles and Max).

Mrs. Blosser's decision to become a nurse revolved around her desire to help others and make a positive impact on lives. She enjoys making connections with people while helping to make their lives a little easier. She has maintained some of the connections she made when she first started her nursing career, including the fantastic co-workers, doctors and mentors. Mrs. Blosser previously worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse and most recently in an Asthma and Allergy office. Although she loved both work experiences, she has also served as a substitute teacher at USD 343. She recently shared "The community and teachers here have helped me realize my calling and I am also able to combine my two loves of nursing and teaching into one. Plus Perry is a great place to live!" An unexpected job about her career is the realization that as a former labor and delivery nurse, she has gone from delivering kids in the community to keeping them healthy until they graduate. Mrs. Blosser shared, "That's pretty cool!"

In her spare time, she loves spending time with friends and family, reading, watching football, and taking vacations and she emphasizes the (s) at the end of vacations. A former marathon and sprint triathlon participate, Mrs. Blosser hopes to get back into them in the near future.
