PLHS Welcomes Megan Adams

PLHS is excited to welcome Miss. Megan Adams as our new English teacher.  Megan grew up in Hays Kansas and graduated from Hays high in 2010, and then from Fort Hays University with a degree in English.  She completed her Masters in Education in 2020 from Fort Hays as well.

Megan began her teaching career at SciTech Academy in New Orleans LA, where she worked as a K-8 Reading/Math/Behavior interventionist.   She has spent the past four years working at Fowler Jr/Sr High School in Fowler Kansas, teaching 7th-12th grade English.   She also taught as an adjunct professor for Dodge City Community College teaching College Composition.

Megan comes from a family of educators.  Her mother, Cheryl, has taught high school physics for 35 years and her father has been involved with education in various ways for 40 years.  Her older brother is a biology teacher and her two younger siblings are currently in college working towards degrees in education.

Megan wanted to become a teacher to help learners become “Critical and curious thinkers”.  Her favorite part of teaching is building strong relationships with students and watching them become capable and compassionate adults and teaching writing!  Megan is excited to come to USD 343 because of the opportunity to teach in a small community that is passionate about the school, as well as her interest in the district’s redesign initiatives.  Megan is looking forward to working with other experienced teachers.  Most of her career so far has been working independently, so this is a change that she is very excited about.

She enjoys reading, hiking, embroidering, playing the bass, and dyeing her hair wild colors in her free time.  It is green now, but who knows what it will be when she arrives at PLHS, hopefully, Kaw Blue!  Megan also already has a connection in USD 343 PLMS Principal Eryn Moland was her babysitter growing up in Hays.  Welcome to PLHS Megan!
