Welcome to Perry-Lecompton Schools
Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Perry-Lecompton Schools! As we begin another school year, I want to share a few of the priorities and values that guide our district.
First and foremost, we place the highest importance on safe schools. Thanks to the support of our community, we now have secure entrances at all of our attendance centers, helping ensure a safe and welcoming environment for every student. Along with physical safety, we are equally committed to providing a nurturing atmosphere focused on student health and well-being.
Our district is fortunate to have a team of highly qualified staff who keep students at the center of every decision. They are dedicated to ensuring each child receives the best educational experience possible. We also recognize the importance of partnerships with parents and the community, and we deeply value your collaboration in supporting our students’ success.
At Perry-Lecompton, we take great pride in encouraging students to develop their talents beyond the classroom. Our fine arts programs—art, band, and choir—are highly respected and recognized at the state level, and we encourage all students to get involved. In addition, we remain committed to offering a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including fall, winter, and spring sports, so every student can find a place to shine.
We are also proud of our facilities, which reflect the strong support of our community. From classrooms to athletic venues, our students benefit from top-notch resources that help them thrive.
As a district, we believe that clear and open communication is essential. If you ever have ideas on how we can improve or enhance our communication strategies, please don’t hesitate to reach out. That said, I would also like to remind everyone of the importance of using caution with social media. Not everything you read online tells the full story—many posts include misinformation or misconceptions. Please know that our decisions will always keep students as our primary focus, but most importantly, please reach out to the source. (i.e. teacher, principal, district office.)
Thank you for being part of the Perry-Lecompton community. I look forward to working together to ensure this is another safe, successful, and rewarding year for our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Josh Woodward
Superintendent of Schools
