USD 343 School District Board of Education

The Perry-Lecompton Unified School District 343 (USD 343) Board of Education has seven members. There are three districts, with two positions within each district, plus one at-large position. All members serve four year terms. Elections are held in November of odd years. The next Board election will be November of 2027. The deadline to register to run for the Board of Education is June 1. All newly elected members will begin their terms on the second Monday in January 2026. The Board of Education typically meets once a month, with additional meetings scheduled as needed throughout the year.

Board Positions and District Boundaries:

District 1, Position 1 and 4: This district encompasses areas west of the Delaware River, including Lecompton Township west of 600 Road, regions south of I-70, Big Springs Township, and Kanwaka Township.

  • Position 1 is held by Jarae Essman .

  • Position 4 is currently held by Ryan Blosser.

  • Daniel Landis will take over Position 4 on January 1, 2026.

District 2, Position 2 and 5: This district covers areas east of the Delaware River, including the City of Perry, regions north of the Kansas River, Rural Township, and Sarcoxie Township.

  • Position 2 is currently held by Bill Culver.

  • Position 5 is currently held by Ryan Soden.

District 3, Position 3 and 6: This district includes the City of Lecompton, areas south of the Kansas River, Lecompton Township east of 600 Road, and North Wakarusa Township. 

  • Position 3 is currently held by Dr. Emily Riner, Board Vice-President.

  • Position 6 is current held by Nick Fergus, Board President.

The At Large position is held by Gretchen Reed.
