Mary Hurd Retires After 24 Years
Mary Hurd is retiring after 24 years with USD 343. Although she has worked in several buildings during her 24 years, she has been the HS/MS athletic secretary and bookkeeper for most of her time. Mary’s kids both graduated from Perry-Lecompton and she has enjoyed her time here. She said she has no favorite stories but says her tenure hear it is something “I will carry with me always; the friends I've made, people I have met along the way!”
In retirement, Mary plans to travel to Florida to see her big brother with her best friend, as well as spending time with her grandkids. She may still work, just doing something different, hopefully from home. She also plans to plant a garden and learn to can and lots of baking and sewing for her grandkids!
Mary has said she will miss working the clocks and gates at games and wants to tell everyone “I wish USD #343 the best of luck with its continued success and growth. I hope someday my grandkids will grace the same halls.”
We wish Mary the best of luck and good health in retirement, she will be hard to replace, thank you for your years of service and dedication to the USD 343 community.
