7th-12th Grade Students Moving to Hybrid Instruction on September 21st

After reviewing COVID data from both Jefferson and Douglas Counties, the determination has been made to move 7th-12th-grade students back to the hybrid or "yellow" model for two weeks beginning on Monday, September 21st.

Because we have smaller class sizes in our Preschool through 6th-grade, they will be able to continue with daily classroom instruction as they have during the past three weeks.  Just to reiterate, there will be no change for our Preschool through 6th-grade students.

7th through 12th-grade students will revert to the educational setting we used during the first eight days of school. These students are divided into two groups, based on the school colors of blue and white. The "blue" team of students will have in-class instruction on Monday and Tuesday. This group will connect with the classroom teacher through Zoom on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The "white" team of students will have in-class instruction on Thursday and Friday. They will connect with the classroom teacher through Zoom on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. To clarify, in this schedule, all 7th through12th-grade students will connect on-line with their teachers on Wednesday. Students will then have two additional days on-line and two days of in-class instruction depending on their blue or white team assignment.

Transportation will continue as it is currently. Please remember that all students riding the school bus must wear a mask.  Food Service will offer meals for all students who are learning at home. Menus can be viewed at https://usd343.nutrislice.com/.  Meals can be ordered by calling the PLHS Kitchen at 785-597-5872. Orders must be called in by 9:00 am each day, please specify if the order is for breakfast, lunch, or both. Meals can be picked up at the south side of PLHS at the Kitchen loading dock drive entrance. The pickup time will be from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. Please call the Kitchen when you arrive for meal pickup, and they will bring the order to you.

We are hopeful that local COVID data will return to lower levels over the next two weeks allowing our 7th through 12th-grade students to return to daily classroom instruction. Data will be re-evaluated on September 29th to determine how we will proceed on October 5th. Should you have questions regarding your student's schedule, please do not hesitate to contact the building.
