Welcome to PLHS's new Resource Room Teacher

PLHS is excited to welcome Mrs. Stacie Adams as our new resource room teacher.  She replaces Mr. Smith who has moved onto a different district.  Mrs. Adams comes to us from Russell Kansas where she taught 1st grade for one year, K-1 Special Education for one year, and 9-12 functional/resource Special Education for the past three years.  Prior to that, she worked for the High Plaines Educational Cooperative teaching K-4 Special Education.

Mrs. Adams grew up in Elkhart Kansas and graduated from Elkhart High School.  She has an Associate of Arts degree from Dodge City Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies (History) from the University of Kansas.  She also has an Early Childhood Unified degree from Fort Hays State and endorsements in low and high incidences in Special Education from Wichita State University where she is currently pursuing her Master’s degree.

Mrs. Adams comes from several generations of educators; her grandmother, mother, brother, and sister-in-law are all educators.  Her path to the classroom, although not a traditional path, was one she feels was always a part of her.  As a new parent, while living in Perry, she was involved with Parents as Teachers, which is where she became interested in early childhood development.  When her first niece was born and she watched her development and educational journey as well as the struggles that her sister-in-law went through, Mrs. Adams was inspired to take the leap and go back to school.  “Even on my worst day, I have never regretted my path and I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to raise my two children to school-aged before I started teaching.”

Mrs. Adams is excited to come back to USD 343.  Though she never taught in Perry, her boys started school here at PES and she did her student teaching with Mrs. Powell and Ms. Hoeffner.  “We know that USD343 is a great school district with high standards and excellent teachers and we are thrilled to be back here”.

In her limited spare time, she loves spending time with my family and friends “Which often means I have to (GET TO) travel as my family all live quite a distance from eastern Kansas.  I am up for challenges; I like trying new things (even when it is painful) and I LOVE to learn!  I know - I’m a geek, but I’m okay with it.”  She also admits to being a formidable UNO player and she loves the Jayhawks!
