PLHS Welcomes Ms. Jami Hodge
Ms. Jami Hodge has been hired to replace Mr. Jared Swafford as the business teacher at PLHS. Mr. Swafford will be teaching Physical Education at PES and PLMS. Ms. Hodge will continue to serve as the Head Girls basketball coach at PLHS as well.
Ms. Hodge grew up in Spring Hill, Kansas. She is the daughter of Duane and Judy Hodge and graduated from Spring Hill High School. While attending Baker University, she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Leadership and Management. Ms. Hodge was also a member of the Baker University basketball and track team.
Before coming to PLHS as an at-risk Para and head girl’s basketball coach, Ms. Hodge worked as an assistant basketball coach and administrative assistant for the athletic department at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. While at Bethany, she also taught classes in Microeconomics, Business Applications, and several courses in education, including Challenges of Coaching Concepts, Methods of Elementary PE, and Standards and Evaluation of Human Performance.
Both of Ms. Hodge’s siblings, Danny, a younger brother, and Jessica, an older sister, are also teachers. Ms. Hodge decided to become a teacher because she enjoys helping students get excited about learning, while challenging them to reach their full potential. She is excited to move into the classroom and looks foward to “Being a model for students and building relationships and guiding students not just through their educational journey, but through life as well”.
Ms. Hodge wanted to become part of the PLHS family because she believes everyone has the students’ best interests in mind. “This school district knows what is takes for students to be in a comfortable learning environment that is also challenging”.
In her spare time, she loves being outside, spending time with her family and friends, going on walks with her dog Kobe, traveling and visiting new places, and being in the gym working with her players.
PLHS is excited to welcome Ms. Hodge into the classroom as a teacher
