Welcome to New PLHS Counselor

Please welcome Mark Scherschligt to Perry-Lecompton High School.  Mark replaces Mrs. Paramore who has moved to Lecompton to be the elementary counselor.  Mr. Scherschligt comes to PLHS after nine years at Valley Falls as a social studies teacher for four years and counselor the past five years.  During that time he also coached multiple sports including cross-country, track football and middle school basketball.

Mr. Scherschligt is originally from Topeka and graduated from Shawnee Heights High School.  He continued his education after high school at Kansas State University where he finished both his bachelors and master’s degrees.  He is married to his wife Lindsey and they have two daughters Rose (4) and Abigail (2)

Mr. Scherschligt was influenced by his mother to become a teacher.  She was an educator for her entire career.  He really enjoys learning and helping others, so being in education was a natural fit.  He most enjoys building relationships with students and seeing them be successful while in school as well as after they have graduated.

In his spare time Mr. Scherschligt enjoys watching sports, especially the Wildcats, Chiefs and the Royals.  He enjoys spending time with his family, including hiking, camping, attending sporting events, and watching movies.  He also loves to learn about history and travel as much as they can.

Mr. Scherschligt wanted to come to USD 343 because he has heard many times about the great staff we have here and he is excited to be part of that staff.  He is really looking forward to “Getting to know the students and helping them prepare for the rest of their lives”.
