48th Annual PLHS Commencement

48th Annual PLHS Commencement

 

On Saturday May 18th, PLHS recognized the 60 seniors who completed requirements set forth by the state of Kansas and USD 343. Samantha Worthington delivered the welcome message to the crowd of approximately 1,500 family and friends.

The PLHS band, directed by Mr. John Nottingham, and the PLHS Choirs directed by Laura Klaassen, performed special music for the crowd in the PLHS gym.

Commencement Scholarship Summary:
Mr. David Barrett, representing First State Bank and Trust presented scholarships to Sara Haggard and Samantha Worthington

PLHS Assistant Principals, Eryn Moland and Rhett Scrimsher presented the following scholarships:

The USD 343 Classified Employee’s scholarship was awarded to Hazel Youngquist.

The Manderson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Sara Haggard.

The Jennifer Then Memorial Scholarship and Thomas D. and Leone M. Hotchkiss Scholarship was awarded to Thomas Hotchkiss.

Spencer Funk, Emily Gottstein, Sara Haggard, and Talisa Stone received the USD 343 Endowment Association scholarship.

Graci Folks, introduced the 2019 Senior class's selection for teacher of the year Mr. Mark Armstrong as the guest speaker. Mr. Armstrong enlightened the seniors on the effects of Murphy's Laws.

The 48th annual PLHS commencement concluded with the presentation of diplomas to the class of 2019!
