Meet Our New Spanish Teacher!

August 02, 2017

Kelly grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended Wichita Northwest High School.  She then attended Kansas State University where she earned her BA in Modern Languages, Spanish and a BS in Secondary Education.  Later, she earned her Masters of Education in English as a Secondary Language from MidAmerica Nazarene University.  Mrs. Hoopes has been teaching Spanish at Bonner Springs High School for the past 8 years.  She became interested in teaching because of her passion for the Spanish Language and Hispanic Culture.  Her inspiration for the language and culture was particularly fueled by her high school Spanish teacher along with a trip to Spain during her junior year.  The most enjoyable aspect of teaching is getting to know the students both within the classroom and in other facets of campus life according to Hoopes.

Mrs. Hoopes is married to her husband, Brennan and has a 3 year old son and a 4 month old daughter.  When not chasing after her active family her hobbies include: reading, traveling, watching Netflix and drinking coffee.  Kelly resides in the Perry-Lecompton community and is excited to be a teacher in the Perry school system where she is looking forward to making a positive impact on our schools and students..

Mrs. Hoopes shared that she is looking forward to meeting her co-workers and especially her students!
