PLMS 8th Grade Promotion 2019

Eighth grade promotion at Perry-Lecompton Middle School is an annual community event.  The 2019 promotion was held at Perry-Lecompton High School on Monday, May 20th at 7:00 PM.   The 60 members of this class became the class of 2023 at PLHS in front of a crowded PLHS gymnasium.

The 7th-grade band played the processional, “Brahms Finale (Symphony No. 1)”, as the class marched into the gym.  The graduation address was presented jointly by Spencer Funk and Jolie  Hirsch. Both were given the Citizenship Award at PLMS as 8th graders four years ago. They provided the graduating 8th graders with insight for coping with the next four years of high school at PLHS. At the conclusion of their speech, the PLMS Choir performed.  PLMS Counselor, Beth and Hupe, and Social Studies teacher Amanda Doleman announced the 2019 Citizenship Award recipients as Brett Paramore and Brook Metcalfe.

Members of the Board of Education Ramon Gonzalez, Ryan Blosser, Travis Daniels, Jenny Morgison and Matt Erickson, Nick Fergus, and DeAnn Hupe-Seib took turns presenting certificates to the students as they crossed the stage.  After the last student crossed the stage the band struck-up the recessional, “Nottingham March”, and the new PLHS Class of 2023 proceeded to greet family and guests.  Best of luck at PLHS and beyond to the class of 2023!
