PLHS Library is continuing its shift into the 21st Century by offering FollettShelf, an online extension of our catalog (Destiny) that features only e-books. Like the Kindle, Nook, and other companies offering e-books, FollettShelf is an exciting and interactive way to access and read books. The best part …It is all online – if you have a device that allows you Internet browsing – you can access and read from the PLHS FollettShelf collection!
Our students are growing up in a digital society. They use tech tools every day to communicate, collaborate, and organize – the exact same tools that will be necessary for success as they enter into post-secondary education, the workforce, and the business world.
Technology is also a big part of how students say they want to be taught. They are looking for a more personalized learning experience. Digital books are just that – personalized reading. Studies show that good readers highlight, make notes, and define unknown words - something you can’t do with traditional print library books. Students want the ability to personalize a digital book with electronic highlights and notes…Let’s give them what they want – check out the PLHS Library Media Center’s FollettShelf!!!
Students and staff of PLHS use their current Destiny login information to access the titles. Other District patrons that are interested in “checking” these titles out, need to see Mrs. Whitaker, the PLHS Library Media Specialist for more information.
