There are many scholarships that can be found on the Internet. Listed below are some recommended web sites and some specific scholarships that I have found that might be of interest.
Scholarships will be added as they are found, so check back often!

The American Legion awards several scholarships and provides other resources in order to help students continue education after high school. Some of these scholarships are listed below. For more information visit: http://www.legion.org/scholarships.
AXA Achievement Scholarship – Students must demonstrate: ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family and community, ability to succeed in college. Deadline to apply is December 1, 2011. Visit AXA for more information.
The Big Sun Organization provides a variety of scholarships to help young athletes succeed. You must be a senior and involved in a high school sport. Visit http//wwwbigsunathletics.com/ for more information. Deadline: June 22, 2012
Burger King Scholars Program – There are two types of scholarships available: General Track and Employee Track. Applications are due January 10, 2011. Visit http://www.haveityourwayfoundation.org/burger_king_scholars_program.html to apply and get more information.
Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is awarding $3 million in scholarships to seniors who demonstrate leadership, commitment to community and academic achievement. For requirements and the application, visit www.coca-colascholars.org.
The Hagan Scholarship Foundation -- This foundation awards about 20 new scholarships to Kansas graduates each year. These students must be in need of financial assistance in order to attend college, have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and an ACT composite score of at least 23. The application can be completed online at www.hsfmo.org or see Mrs. Paramore for more information.
The Hy-Vee Foundation awards about 40 scholarships each year. These $1,000 scholarships are given to students who are currently working for Hy-Vee or have parents that have worked there for at least six months as of September 15, 2011. These student must also be enrolling in college for the first time. To apply you can go online at www.hy-vee.com or contact Mrs. Paramore for an application. The deadline to apply is February 10, 2012.
KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program – This program is offered to seniors who need financial assistant and have an entrepreneurial spirit. Awards can be up to $20,000.
Requirements: 2.75 GPA or higher
Enroll in a public college or university within state
Plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree
A US citizen
Demonstrate financial need
Applications: Are taken December 1, 2011 to February, 2012

The Kansas Board of Regents provide several scholarship opportunities. A brief description of each is below. Visit http://www.kansasregents.org/scholarships_and_grants for more information.
Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship --designed to assist financially needy, academically competitive students who are identified as members of any of the following ethnic/racial groups.
Kansas Teacher Service Scholarship-- a merit-based service obligation scholarship for students pursuing bachelor's teaching degree in hard-to-fill disciplines or planning to teach in an underserved geographic area.
Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship -- requires an obligation to practice as a LPN or RN in Kansas and work for a sponsor. The sponsor will provide partial scholarship funding and provide employment upon licensure of the recipient.
Kansas State Scholarship-- designed to assist financially needy students in the top 20-40% of Kansas high school graduates who are designated as state scholars during the senior year of high school.
Kansas Comprehensive Grant -- is available to needy Kansas residents enrolled full-time at eighteen private colleges and universities located in Kansas, the six state universities, and Washburn University. You must complete and submit the FAFSA, listing one or more eligible colleges in the FAFSA. The priority receipt deadline is April 1.
Vocational Educational Scholarship -- is available to eligible students enrolled in approved vocational programs at community or technical colleges and some two-year programs at four-year institutions. Applicants must take the vocational exam which is offered at various sites throughout the state typically on the first Saturday in November and March.
Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance -- provides up to 100% of tuition and fees that leads to the award of a certificate, diploma or degree upon satisfactory completion of course work requirements for members of a Kansas Air/Army National Guard unit. Full-time enrollment not required.
Kansas Career Work Study -- is available to Kansas residents, enrolled at least half-time at the six state universities and Washburn University. Eligible students work on a part-time basis on behalf of an employer which complements and enhances the educational preparation of the student's career.
Glenn Lygrisse/KACRAO Scholarship -- The Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO) is offering the Glenn Lygrisse/KACRAO Scholarship. There are four $250 awards available for the 2012-2013 academic year. The scholarships will be designated as follows; one per school type: four-year public, private institution, community college, and technical/vocational. These scholarships must be used at a KACRAO member institution (list of member institutions attached). The scholarship is not need-based and may be used in conjunction with other awards at the discretion of the Financial Aid office of the attending institution. Complete applications received by the deadline (March 9, 2012) will be considered for this award. Once the scholarship recipients have accepted their awards, an announcement will be posted on the KACRAO website (www.kacrao.org<http://www.kacrao.org/>) and all students will receive a letter notifying them of the outcome.
To be eligible for consideration for these scholarships, students must:
♦ Be in their senior year at a Kansas high school
♦ Have a cumulative seventh semester GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale
♦ Have a minimum ACT composite score of 22 or an SAT-I combined score of 1020
♦ Submit a complete application (application form, essay, letters of reference and resume) postmarked by March 9, 2012
♦ Provide evidence of leadership experience

The Senator Robert J. Dole Public Service Scholarship Program will provide up to 60 nonrenewable $1,000 scholarships. Students must be a 2012 graduate, have a 3.0 or higher GPA, be involved in a significant amount of volunteer community service projects and enroll in a Kansas Regents' University or Washburn University no later than the fall 2012. At least one Lawrence Hidden Valley Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior girl who has been actively involved and registered in Girl Scouts of the USA for a minimum of six years. The applicant must also be registered in a senior or ambassador level Girl Scout troop or as a senior or ambassador level Juliette Girl Scout in Douglas County. She must also have given service to the Hidden Valley Camp. The University of Kansas is pleased to announce an exciting scholarship award called the J.L. Cleland GLBT Non-discrimination Award. This award was established to help eliminate hatred, violence and bigotry against gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender persons. For the application or additional information visit affordability.ku.edu.
The Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship is a $500 scholarship give to students between the ages of 15 to 21. They must be a full time student in 2012 in either High School or College/University and answer an essay question found on the application page. The Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship provides $5000 scholarships for students currently in high school or in their first year of university or college and under 25 years of age as of May 30, 2012. The Big Dig Scholarship is a $3,000 scholarship given to students currently in the 12th grade and are going to enter a college/university in 2012. Applications can be found at: http://www.studentscholarships.org/scholarship.php. The deadline is June 1, 2012.
The Man Mac Automatic Scholarship is a $500 scholarship for students who will be enrolled or expect to be enrolled in an undergraduate program by the Fall of 2012. Applications can be found at: http://www.studentscholarships.org/scholarship.php. The deadline is June 15, 2012.
