Lola Ward Retires after 17 Years

May 22, 2019

Lola Ward is retiring after 17 years at Perry-Lecompton High School.  Mrs. Ward was a stay at home mom and started in education as a paraprofessional for a couple of years before getting her degree from Missouri Western.  Mrs. Ward has degrees from Washburn University and Ashford.  She previously taught at a Catholic School, and in the Atchison school district before arriving at PLHS in 2001.

Mrs. Ward has several fond memories of her time here at PLHS.  Some moments that really stand out to her is her involvement in the musicals as well as starting the debate and forensics teams up the past few years and having state qualifiers in both.

In her retirement, Mrs. Ward plans to move to Michigan where she hopes to spend her time volunteering, kayaking, hiking, XC Skiing and being a Granny Nanny!  Mrs. Ward has three children and four grandchildren.  When asked if she had any comments she wanted to leave for the district she said; “USD 343 is a good district with good people, I really hope it continues to grow.”

Thank you, Mrs. Ward, for your seventeen years of service to USD 343 and best of luck in retirement.
