Math2

General Information

Contact Hours:  I will be at Perry-Lecompton High School from approximately 7:30 am to 3:30 pm daily.  I am available during my plan from 10:45 – 11:30 am on Mondays and 10:00 am – 11:30 am on Tuesdays/Thursdays.

Requirements:  Students are required to bring their textbook, a 3-ring math binder, notebook paper, pencils, and a scientific calculator to class daily.

Behavior Plan:  It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and complete any assignments during any absence from class.   Unacceptable and chronic behaviors that interfere with the learning process will be addressed in the following manner:  Step #1: Warning of inappropriate behavior and communication with student that inappropriate behavior is unacceptable and will draw consequences.   Step #2: A detention may or may not be assigned.  Additional interventions may include appropriate consequences for unacceptable student behavior and direct communication with parents.    Step #3:  Office referral.

Student Evaluation

Tests:  Local assessments will include open-ended, multiple-choice, matching, and multiple-mark questions.  An assessment will be given for each outcome, and assessment retakes will not be given. A mid-term exam will be given and will be calculated with the DOUBLE weight as an assessment score.  All assessment scores are averaged together to equal one assessment score each semester.  This assessment score will constitute 40% of the semester grade.  A cumulative final will be given at the end of each semester.  This cumulative final score will constitute 10% of the semester grade.

Homework/Projects:  The homework will include daily assignments, quizzes, outcome notes, warm-up problems, projects, and any other general assignments.  All textbook assignments must have the student’s name and page number written on the notebook paper to received ANY credit.  Any other assignments without a name will be given ZERO credit.  All homework points are averaged together to equal one homework score each semester.  Assignments turned in one day late will be worth one-half credit, and assignments turned in more than one day late will be worth zero credit. This homework score will constitute 20% of the semester grade. Both on-line and paper-pencil quizzes will be administered throughout the semester, and this quiz score will constitute 30% of the semester grade.  Extra credit may be earned by completing designated projects throughout the year.
