Lecompton Elementary School: PTO

Lecompton PTO

Question:          What is 2 to the 100th power?

Answer:            A strong PTO resulting in a great school!

Many people think of Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) as being all about bake sales or in the case of Lecompton Elementary…Innisbrook.   Other people think of PTOs as power-tripping moms ruling their domain, like Desperate Housewives and Harper Valley PTA. Well, that’s good TV, but it’s not us.

At Lecompton Elementary School PTO, parents (yes, men and women) work together toward a common goal. The goal is to create a better school and a better educational experience for our children. We strive to create an atmosphere where teachers and administrators can do their best work—and so can our children.

Did you know it makes a difference if YOU are involved? Numerous research studies have documented the positive results of parent involvement.  When parents get involved in their children’s education, grades go up, test scores go up, children become more likely to pass and to attend better schools after high school, they have fewer discipline problems, and they’re less likely to use drugs and alcohol.

Now you’re thinking, “That’s great but I don’t have the time.”  Volunteering does NOT REQUIRE a huge time commitment!  An hour or two a semester makes a big difference!  If every family donated two hours of their time every year to the LES PTO, the results would be exponential!

Contact the Lecompton PTO.  Let’s find a task that fits your schedule and interests.

Won’t you join us in building a better school? It’s easy and it really makes a difference.

LES PTO meets the first Monday of every month, at 7:00 p.m., in the LES Library.  Childcare is provided.  Or contact Lecompton Elementary School for more information.
