Teaching Excellence Award

This award shall be given "to the outstanding teacher of the district each year, particularly the teacher who most motivates students to want to learn and obtain more education."  This award reflects the desire of Doris and Dale Hupe to annually reward the USD #343 teacher who most stimulates learning in pupils.

The amount of the award for the 2005-2006 school year will be $1,549, to be used as the recipient sees fit.

 

Procedure & Process

v      No teacher shall be eligible to receive the award more than three (3) years in any ten (10) year period.

v      Nominations:

o        LES -- 1

o        PES & GECC -- 1

o        PMS & WES (PLMS) -- 1

o        PLHS -- 2

v      Staff will select the building nominee based on above criteria by secret vote or ballot prior to Spring Break.  (Principals will be in charge of this process.)

v      Nominees will respond in writing to the question, " How do you motivate students to want to learn and obtain more education?"

v      The selection committee will consist of the high school senior class president, a PTO representative from each school and the superintendent.

o        Principals will ask their PTO to select a member to serve on the selection committee.  The PTO members should have had student/s already through the school or have a student at the exit level.

v      The selection committee will meet with the nominees in April to ask each a short list of questions. 

The announcement of the winner will be made at the Staff Appreciation and Retirement Luncheon the last day of the school year.
