New Title One teacher at PLMS/PES

July 12, 2018

Join us in welcoming Maria Wiedeman to the PLMS and PES staff as the new Title I teacher, while Annie Wade moves into a 1st grade teaching position.  Maria taught ten years at Oskaloosa, then taught kindergarten for three years in the Lawrence district.  She grew up in Bear, Delaware, and attended Hodgson High School.  Maria has earned a Bachelor’s from Northern Kentucky University and a Master’s from Western Governor's University.  When asked why she wanted to become a teacher, she said "My teachers were very influential, especially my 10th grade Biology teacher.  She took time for me when my family was going through a challenging time."

Maria and her husband, Matthew have three children - Re'Anne (19), Isaiah (11), and Warren (9).  She loves spending time with her family, crocheting, reading, and fishing.

She decided to come to the Perry-Lecompton school district because she has always heard about what a wonderful place it is to work, as well as the staff and community are very welcoming to newcomers.  She is looking forward to starting a new chapter in her career as a Title I teacher and getting to know the amazing staff and students in our district.

Welcome to the USD 343 Kaw family!
