Kaws Are 3A Regional Champions!

First Time In PLHS XC History!

On Saturday, October 22nd, the PLHS Kaws Cross Country team traveled to Council Grove for the 3A Regional #1 meet.  Teams in competition were West Franklin, Wellsville, Osage City, Remington, Jayhawk Linn, Council Grove, Mission Valley, Silver Lake, Southwest of Saline, Marion, Humboldt, Eureka, Central Heights, Oskaloosa and Perry-Lecompton.
 
Lexia Jamison was the regional runner-up with her 2nd place finish and PR for the season at 20:37.  Blaise Ball finished a strong 12th at 22:07 along with Jolie Hirsch in 22nd (23:01), Emily Hamm in 25th (23:08), MK Dwyer in 36th (24:34), Sara Haggard in 41st (24:53) and Dorothy Haggard in 54th (26:37). 
 
From the schools represented, there were nine full teams that were eligible for team qualificiation.  Perry-Lecompton Kaws were 1st with 78 points with Southwest of Saline in 2nd (79), Mission Valley in 3rd (104), Osage City in 4th (105), Remington in 5th (124), West Franklin in 6th (133), Council Grove in 7th (139), Wellsville in 8th (155) and Marion in 9th (175).
 
This is the first time in Perry-Lecompton Cross Country history that a girls team has qualified for state.  The team will continue training this week and prepare for 3A State that is to be held on Saturday, October 29th, at KU's Rim Rock Farm at 11:45 am.  
 
 
T-shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, crew-neck sweatshirt, and hoodies are available for sale in support of the Kaws Cross Country state team.  Orders must be made by 2 pm on Wednesday, October 26th.
