Winter Band & Vocal Concerts

By Maloun, Mike

The PLHS and PLMS Bands and Choirs have ended the semester with two weeks of concerts.  The winter concert season began with the 5th and 6th Grade Band and Choir concert on December 6th.  The band played several Christmas favorites and the 5th Grade Band showcased their progress from the beginning of the year.  The 5th and 6th Grade Choirs sung some winter classics, including “We Need a Little Christmas,” “Holly Jolly Christmas,” and a song that featured 22 carols.

The concert season continued with the PLHS Band and Choirs on Sunday, December 16th.  The choir concert included Men's Ensemble, Women's Ensemble, and Singers.  Men's and Women's Ensemble combined for two pieces, and the Singer's portion of the concert featured a Latin piece that was accompanied by cello, violin, and piccolo.  The PLHS Band finished the afternoon with several exciting pieces, including “Sleigh Ride” and “Santa Claus 007.”

The 7th and 8th Grade Band and Choir concluded the concert season on Wednesday, December 19th.  The band began with an arrangement of “Deck the Halls” and ended with a delicious arrangement of several carols called “Secret Agent Santa.”  The choir finished the evening with three pieces, including “Still, Still, Still,” “December's Keep,” and “Little Saint Nick."

Congratulations to all the performers for a great semester of concerts, and we look forward to seeing you in 2013!
