Janet Williams to Retire from PLMS!
Ms. Janet Williams will retire from USD 343 at the conclusion of this school year after a twenty-seven year career where she taught multiple subjects include 8th grade social studies, 7th grade computer class, 4th and the 6th grade classroom.
Ms. Williams recalls many memorable events over her tenure at USD 343, some of which include having her first student who was the child of one of her former students, as well as hosting her first parent teacher conference with a parent who was a former student.
Ms. Williams grew up in Olathe, Kansas and graduated from Olathe High School with no plans to step foot in a school building again. However, after a few years, several jobs, a marriage and baby boy, she enrolled at Johnson County Community College and completed her education degree at KU in January of 1985. Her first job at PLMS began the following fall of 1985.
Ms. Williams plans to travel and spend more time with her family. Her youngest son Zach and his family (fiance Cindy, grandchildren Isabel, 7; Emelia 1) live in Portland, Oregon. Her oldest son Nate and his family (wife Lisa, grandchildren Noah, 9; Aubrey, 4; Trent, 11 mo.) live in Shawnee, Kansas.
Ms. Williams’ future plans are up in the air. She plans to put her name on the sub list for next year as well as take a trip to the Rocky Mountains in the fall. Another possibility is to visit her nephew in LA who happens to be working on getting her a seat in the bleachers on the red carpet for next year’s Academy Awards. Ms. Williams is very fond and proud of her days at Perry-Lecompton, but anticipates enjoying life in her retirement. For the rest of us, we'll be looking for her on next years Red Carpet!
