Could you answer either one of these questions, along with 15 others of the same or harder level of difficulty? “Which of the 50 U. S. states has the highest population density?” -- “The sum of two numbers is five. The sum of their squares is fifty-three. What are the two numbers?” Well, PLHS Scholars Bowl team members are posed these types of questions at each competition!
Scholars Bowl is a question-answer academic competition played by high school students. The PLHS season began in October and will end in February. The team travels to several area schools and competes against 7-8 other high school teams. Our team consists of five varsity and 3 junior varsity competitors and two brand new coaches; Eryn Norton and Susie Whitaker.
Scholars Bowl is not a spectator sport, there aren’t any pep bands or cheerleaders there to encourage or inspire you to go that extra mile – it is a quiet academic event that will “blow your mind”!! These are intense competitions that challenge our students and demonstrate the impact of a quality education, dedication to learning, and the desire to gain more knowledge. Be proud PLHS and USD 343 – the PLHS Scholars Bowl team is up to the test!
