American Education Week

American Education Week has been celebrated every November since 1921.  It provides a national opportunity to consider the value of our system of free public schools, and to think about the accomplishments and needs of our own local schools.  The tagline for this year is, “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.”

The week of November 13-17 would be a great time to let your elected legislators know how you feel about the current and future levels of funding they are responsible for authorizing.  It is fair to say that we have great public schools in the district.  We want to continue that tradition of excellence, but the programs that have brought us this far may be scaled back or eliminated if the resources are not there.

The high quality education of each student is due to the constant efforts of teachers, paraeducators, staff such as custodians and bus drivers, and building administrators, supported by the Board of Education and our patrons.  We are working hard to prepare every student for success in the 21st century, with your help!
