Students and Learning Styles

by Todd Fargo

November 03, 2009

The 7th, 8th, and 9th grade classes have decided what styles of learning they enjoy the most. Each class was divided in to groups of 4-5 and was asked to brainstorm on ways they learn the best. We then narrowed down the styles to 5 for each class. The most common style was open discussion. This was not a surprise because most 7th, 8th, and 9th graders love to express themselves. Group activities, guest speakers, team building activities and visual learning with technology were some of the other most popular ways of learning chosen by the students. It seems there has been more student participation in class this year with the students having some input on what and how they learn. Stay tuned for updates on how Health classes are going at Perry-Lecompton this year.
