Welcome to USD #343!

Welcome to Perry-Lecompton School District #343, home of the Kaws!  We are proud of our northeast Kansas location nestled in the fertile Kansas River Valley with scenic bluffs situated above the Kansas (Kaw) River as it winds through the district.  The district's 153 square miles of forested hills and rich farm ground provide scenic vistas plus outstanding recreational opportunities while situated between Clinton Lake and Perry Reservoir.

We offer the best of both worlds while our communities are rural, they are centrally located in close proximity to the metropolitan areas of Topeka, Lawrence and Kansas City.  Institutions of higher learning are within short travel distance at The University Kansas in Lawrence and Washburn University in Topeka.

Four communities are located in our school district including Grantville, Lecompton, Perry and Williamstown.  Each community has a rich history and is proud of their heritage while offering a safe, small-town living environment.

Our schools include Perry Elementary School (Pre-K -1st), Lecompton Elementary School (2nd - 4th), Perry-Lecompton Middle School (5th - 8th), and Perry-Lecompton High School (9th - 12th).  PLHS is classified as a 4A high school and currently competes in the Big 7 League.

USD #343 schools have a great deal to offer to parents seeking a quality education for their children. Our schools offer low student/teacher ratio, all-day kindergarten, safe schools with few discipline problems, a strong tradition of fine arts, a recently completed $10 million construction project including a new 5th - 8th middle school opened in 2006, and a stable teaching staff with little annual turnover.

I invite you to tour our schools, either through our website or make arrangements to visit our schools in person.  I believe you will find that in USD #343 we have successful schools in an ideal location with a great future!
