Welcome Sara Roesler to 4th Grade

Lecompton Elementary School teaching staff will increase this year with the addition of Sara Roesler at 4th grade.

After completing an Associate’s degree in Interior Design and working in the floral industry for 4 years, Mrs. Roesler chose to take a new direction by pursuing a teaching degree through Michigan State University. Both her father and aunt were inspirations for choosing the teaching path as her father taught high school English and her aunt 4th grade.  Mrs. Roesler completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2005 with a focus on Language Arts at the elementary and middle school levels. A year long internship in a 4th grade classroom followed in 2006, where Mrs. Roesler learned, among other things, about hands-on approaches to instruction as well as how to build a strong classroom community.  She is highly qualified in elementary education as well as middle school language arts. Mrs. Roesler is currently pursuing her Masters in Teaching and Curriculum through Michigan State University online and expects to have the degree completed by next summer!

Mrs. Roesler’s first year of teaching was in Lawrence, Kansas in 2008-2009 which required a move from Traverse City, Michigan with her husband Derek. She worked at Sunflower Elementary school where she had a sixth grade homeroom in which she taught Language Arts as well as teaching math to all three fifth grade classes. This will be her second year of full-time teaching and she is very excited to be in a fourth grade classroom because that was her favorite year as a student. Mrs. Roesler plans to incorporate lots of technology, hands-on activities and student-centered lessons into her classroom. Mrs. Roesler also has a passion for gardening and can not wait to get involved in the nature center at Lecompton Elementary.
