Athletic Passes - Still a Bargain
Athletics in rural Kansas and across the nation are often the main attraction on Friday nights and a source of pride for the entire community. Unfortunately, the price of athletics has gone up, just like so many other goods and services. Perry-Lecompton High School and Middle School spent nearly $23,000 last year for officials, up considerably from the year before.
Our athletic revenue in 2007-08 was not sufficient to cover athletic expenditures. Gate receipts and proceeds from the sale of USD #343 Athletic Passes are the main sources of revenue to pay for officials, entry fees and athletic supplies. Admission fees to athletic contests are determined by league officials.
Many school districts are faced with this problem and have taken measures to generate more revenue such as "pay to play" policies and the elimination of athletic passes entirely. Our district choose to increase revenue through raising the price of some athletic passes and limiting the number of individuals allowed in on the passes.
Our revised 2008-09 athletic passes are described below:
Individual Pass ($50) Admits 1 Adult and 1 Accompanying Preschool through 8th Grade Student to all home PLHS and PLMS sporting events.
High School Pass ($35) Admits 1 PLHS student to all PLHS home sporting events.
Middle School Pass ($10) Admits 1 PLMS student to all PLMS home sporting events.
We appreciate our wonderful Perry-Lecompton fans and hope for their continued support of our athletic programs. We do believe that our athletic passes still provide our students and patrons an affordable option to attend USD #343 athletic contests.
