Property Again Stolen From Schools

USD #343 school officials and the Jefferson County Sheriff's office are asking for the public's assistance in solving numerous thefts from school property in Perry the past 18 months.
The theft of a split-rail fence and concrete splashboards was reported at Perry Elementary last summer. Perry-Lecompton Middle School has had numerous new trees and
shrubs stolen from their grounds, with some plants still in containers and others taken out of the ground. The public address system was taken from the football field press box sometime since the conclusion of the past football season.More recently, 12 sheets of 4' x 8' x 3/4" plywood were stolen from the football field area while it was being used to cover the track for vehicle movement across that area during the recent football field sod replacement. Two chainlink
fence gates (1 - 4' x 6' & 1 - 3' x 6') and all hardware were recently taken from the south entrance areas to the football field.The most recent theft occurred during the night, either late Monday, April 21 or early on April 22, from the high school baseball field. Approximately 80' of 6' newly installed chainlink fence and 18 pressure treated 2" x 12" x 7' boards was taken from the baseball field backstop. These items had just been installed in February and have already been replaced at a cost of $2,170.
