Mr. Hoffman is fitting in just fine.

Mr. Hoffman has almost completed his first year as a teacher. “The people who have helped me the most this year have been Mrs. Packard and Mr. Smith,” was the answer I received when I asked about Mr. Hoffman's first year here at PLHS. He added,“The office ladies have also made me feel welcome and have helped me a great deal with office procedures.”
One of his plans for next year is, “Getting more involved with
technology in my classroom. I am a huge fan of technology”. He
recently attended a seminar on SMART boards and is really
interested in them. “Every room should have one; it's a great
advantage to the students to have one. They work best for
trigonometry and geometry with the shapes and all.” He was very
excited when he talked to me about them and about the many things
they can do, and is pleased that the school currently has one.
Hoffman uses technology now to his advantage by making websites for
students to access and by creating PowerPoint presentations for
teaching. This is very helpful for students who miss class and need
to learn the material.
Mr. Hoffman participated in high school and college track and plans to work with the PLHS track team. He was also planning on helping with basketball but then broke his ankle during the annual PLHS volleyball tournament before the holiday break.
This year Mr. Hoffman helped coach cross country with Mrs. Packard,
and states, “I really enjoyed helping with cross country; the kids
we had were great. Next year I would like to be able to support my
brother during his senior year, so I will most likely not be able
to do much coaching.” He expressed interest in coaching middle
school sports if given the chance. He also would like to continue
painting the football field lines.
Mr. Hoffman has had a great first year at PLHS and looks forward to an even better 2008-2009 school year.
