What is a Hyperbole, Anyway?

A hyperbole is an extreme exaggeration. As students at Perry Lecompton Middle School work towards preparing themselves for the state assessments, teachers strive to plan activities to engage them in the learning process. Understanding several different types of figurative language is one indicator on the state curriculum for reading.  It is often times a difficult one to master successfully.

2nd Place: She shot the ball so hard she shattered the glass.

Seventh grade students in Mrs. Strait’s Language Arts class competed to create the best hyperbole as a way to understand this type of figurative language.  Students created some wonderful cartoon illustrations to make their point.
